Who We Are

Scott and Mindy were married in 2000.  In 2003, they decided to move to sunny Ft. Lauderdale with their 2 year old son, Harry, to be closer to Scott's parents (and the beach!)  Scott was lucky to find a great job that paid very well, and they were excited to find out that they were going to have another baby!  Things were looking up and then tragedy struck. 

     Scott was performing his closing duties, when three men entered his store and began attacking him.  He was stabbed repeatedly, beaten and left for dead.  He was hospitalized for a week and remained bed-ridden for two months.  We thought that everything would be okay, because we were receiving Worker's Comp, but that is when the real nightmare began.  The insurance company seemed to only care about Scott's  return to work status, not how he was doing physically and mentally.  Because of mix-ups in Doctor's orders, the insurance company stopped all payments and benefits, we lost everything.  We couldn't afford to pay rent, we lost our insurance, and all of the other things that we had worked so hard to achieve, and Scott was still unable to walk by himself and was in extreme pain.  We decided to settle with the Worker's Comp insurance company and hired a lawyer to help us.  He was terrible, and we lost even more money and time.  Finally a year and a half later, we fired him and did some research and finally found a lawyer that had OUR best interests in mind.  We finally settled with the insurance company, and thought that we could move on.

     That is when we decided to file for Social Security Disability.  We are still in the decision process and Scott was injured in 2003!!  All of these obstacles have shown us that it is time for a change!  We are going to devote the rest of our lives to making sure that no one else feels the pain that we felt.  We are devoted to helping you and your family through this difficult process.
